SAN DIEGO - Provider of wireless technology, Qualcomm, reportedly will soon acquire Atheros Communications, a Wi-Fi chip vendor based in San Jose, California.
New York Times and Wall Street Journal reported, both parties may be reach agreement in the near future. But it is still possible acquisition opportunities to be canceled entirely, thus reported by PC World, on Wednesday (01/05/2011).
As is known, Qualcomm pioneered the use of CDMA technology (Code Division Multiple Access) and funnel the chips and technology licensed to the various mobile platforms, including broadband systems LTE (Long-Term Evolution). While Atheros
sell silicon to network and Wi-Fi devices as well as several other technologies, including Ethernet and GPS (Global Positioning System).
Step acquisitions that could help Qualcomm to integrate more network capabilities with mobile chip and penetrated into the arena of wireless LAN and other technology devices such as laptops.
